All hands on deck for pharmacare!

We've learned from the recent Canadian Health Coalition lobby in Ottawa that federal Pharmacare legislation could be coming as early as next week. Based on what we’ve been hearing from discussions on Parliament Hill these past few days, it’s critical that we keep calling MPs and telling them we want pharmacare to be universal, comprehensive and public—not the means-tested, fill-in-the-gaps approach favoured by Big Pharma and the insurance companies.

That's why the Council of Canadians is asking supporters to use their calling tool to call a few key target MPs and tell them that voters are paying attention, and pharmacare needs to be universal and public.

Call your MP and target ministers

The calling tool linked above will connect you to your local MP, PM Trudeau, Health Minister Holland, Finance Minister Freeland, and cabinet members O’Regan, Fraser, Naqvi, Virani, Wilkinson and Boissonnault. On that same link, you'll see a script and some key additional talking points. This is an all hands on deck moment — our movements have been fighting to bring coverage for medicines into our public health care system since Medicare was established more than 60 years ago, and your voice is needed, right now, to help get it across the finish line.

Every call counts in these final hours of negotiations.
