Town Hall - 2014 Health Accord

Thu, 2013-10-10 19:00 to 21:00
Interior Savings Center
Kamloops, BC

I heart Health Care jpegThroughout the Thompson region, we have experienced serious cuts to our health care system for more than a decade.

Our hospitals are overcrowded, health services and programs have been severely reduced or cut altogether, and the needs of our rural population largely ignored. B.C.'s public health care continues to be dismantled and privatized.

Now, the provinces and Ottawa will be negotiating a new national Health Accord to replace the one that expires in 2014.

But rather than improving our health services, the federal Conservatives plan to make big cuts in health care funding to the provinces that will significantly impact our region over the next ten years.

Just when we need the federal government to step up and pay its fair share, this Health Accord funding cut will mean fewer health services and programs in acute, residential and home care, and even less for mental health and addiction treatment and support.

We can't let that happen.
