"Seniors Deserve Quality Public Health Care" Seniors' Forum and "Moving Medicare 2010" Regional GatheringRegister Today!Dates: May 14 and 15, 2010 Location: Firefighters Conference Centre 6515 Bonsor Avenue Burnaby, B.C.These are two important events that will allow public health care advocates to strengthen networks around the province in order to challenge privatization and support health care solutions in the public, not-for-profit sector!
These are critical times for public health care advocates. Governments at all levels continue to push for more private control of our health care system – and the recent economic crisis has allowed policy makers to question government’s role in guaranteeing that everyone gets universal access to timely, quality health care, regardless of income.
BCHC Seniors’ Forum – Because seniors deserve quality public health care
We are deeply concerned by the provincial government’s failure to provide quality, accessible health care for seniors and improve necessary services such as home support and residential care.
Our May 14th “Seniors Deserve Quality Public Health Care!” Forum will provide an afternoon of networking and strategizing to take action to achieve quality and accessible health care for B.C. seniors. We are delighted that our keynote speaker will be B.C. Ombudsperson Kim Carter talking about her office’s systemic investigation into seniors’ care and summarizing the December 2009 report, The Best of Care: Getting it Right for Seniors in British Columbia.
Moving Medicare 2010: BCHC Regional Gathering
The BC Health Coalition’s May 15th “Moving Medicare 2010” Regional Gathering will be an interactive all-day event that will delve deeper into the issues that matter to you and to build skills and strategies for action that you can take back to your community.
You will learn about our “Medicare: it’s got us covered” campaign, network with other advocates from around the province who are working to prevent the privatization of our acute and primary care services and join with others to build our collective capacity to resist privatization and together strengthen the public system.
