South Island Health Coalition

Vision

We are a democratic , inclusive and consensus-based network of individuals and organizations working to retain and improve a unversal health care system that is publicly funded, publicly accountable, publicly delivered and publicly controlled. We are a regional movement on Southern Vancouver Island in support of public health care, covering the area from Port Renfrew to the southern Gulf Islands.

Our objectives are to:
  • encourage activism for public health care
  • raise public awareness on health issues
  • develop constituencies around campaigns, both local and provincial
  • build unity through these campaigns
  • solicit participation in South Island Health Coalition and BC Health Coalition activities

Current Issues

We are currently trying to foster accountability within the Vancouver Island Health Authority and the Minister of Health.

Regular monthly meetings are on the third Wednesday of each month at 11 a.m. at the BCGEU bldg. 2994 Douglas St. in Victoria
