Published by the CCPA and Institut de recherche et d’informations socio-économiques, this report lays out the formula for a Pharmacare program that not only covers all Canadians, but could annually save up to $10.7 billon in spending. The report garnered the endorsement of eminent doctors, nurses, economists and researchers.

Residential Long Term Care in Canada: Our Vision for Better Seniors' Care (October 2009). Produced by the Canadian Union of Public Employees, this research paper documents the access and quality problems in residential long-term care, and their causes, urges governments and employers to improve seniors’ care and offers proven solutions. An Uncertain Future for Seniors: BC’s Restructuring of Home and Community Health Care 2001-2008 builds on past CCPA studies. This report provides detailed evidence related to concerns raised recently by the BC Auditor General, the BC Medical Association and the BC Care Providers Association about the deteriorating state of seniors’ care in BC. (April 2009).

Positive. Public. Ten Steps to Stronger Health Care The BC Health Coalition worked with experts, professionals and citizens to develop this report. Taking an extensive look at the challenges our system faces, it suggests positive, public solutions to ensure the sustainability of an equitable and accessible public health care system for generations to come. Why Wait? Public Solutions to Cure Surgical Waitlists Collaboration and cooperation — not competition — between health care providers is the key to reducing surgical wait times. Unfortunately, the for-profit clinic model will undermine many of the team-based approaches being piloted in BC. This April 2007 report, co-published by the BCHC and the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, clearly outlines the cure for long wait times. Defending Medicare: A Guide to Canadian Law and Regulation A CUPE research document based on a legal analysis by Steven Shrybman. From Support to Isolation This 2006 report from the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives explores the transformation of home support services in BC during the past decade. The report examines the impact on home support workers and their clients, primarily frail seniors who often live alone and on low income. Report of the Federal Advisor (Dr. Brian Postl) on Wait Times This report provides a blueprint for this kind of national coordination and recommends fixing wait time problems by making changes within the public system.
The Romanow Report: The Romanow Commission’s 2002 report on the Future of Health Care in Canada provides an important guide for preserving and expanding Medicare today and for future generations.
