| Proposed Royal Jubilee P3 |
|
|
At a recent meeting of Greater Victoria's Capital Regional District (CRD) planning committee, CRD directors rejected a staff proposal to commit $108 million to a new P3 development planned for the Royal Jubilee Hospital. Several CRD directors noted they were not convinced P3s are a more cost effective model, and would need more information before they could commit to borrow funds for the project. South Island Health Coalition co-chair, Carol Pickup, spoke at the planning committee meeting and outlined some of the health coalition's concerns about health P3s. The CRD planning committee decision is a victory for medicare activists, and another step towards gaining support for public infrastructure.
